Why we fund research

We want to ensure the 40,000 people diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK each year are given effective treatments. We’ve invested £500 million in research.

This is Hugo

Hugo was part of a clinical trial funded by Blood Cancer UK

Thanks to research and trials like these, Hugo happily enjoyed his seventh birthday.

This is Brian

Thanks to your donations, Blood Cancer UK could fund a trial which has helped Brian live his life with his cancer under control, by taking just a few pills a day.

This is Adele Fielding

From a student in the lab back in 1993, to Professor, Blood Cancer UK have supported Adele to understand whether we can harness the power of viruses in cancer treatment and study the role of gene changes that are thought to be important in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Survival rates are improving, we’ve got increasing numbers of treatments available at our fingertips, but we’ve still got a long way to go.

Because

We want to help more people like Hugo and Brian.

Because

We want to support more people like Adele to carry out vital research.

Because

We want to make sure the 40,000 people diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every year are diagnosed early and are given kind and effective treatments, ensuring they have the best possible chance of survival.

Investing in research is the way we’re going to be able to do this. Together.

Right now, we’re funding leading blood cancer researchers across the UK. We’ve invested £500 million in research to date and we’ll keep going until the day where we can beat all blood cancers.
