Lord Cadogan, Honorary President

Lord Cadogan became an Honorary President of Bloodwise in July 2019. This follows a long-standing commitment to the charity: he previously served as Chairman and was a Trustee for 29 years.

Charity commitments

Lord Cadogan was recognised in the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honours for his charitable work. He's a patron of a wide range of institutions, encompassing causes related to health, disability, accommodation and housing, and animal welfare.

Lord Cadogan is commited to helping people affected by blood cancer. As well as his work with Bloodwise, he served as Chairman for Children with Leukaemia for 32 years.

His other appointments include:

  • President of the Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
  • Vice-President of the Chelsea Society and First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (PRVC)
  • Honorary Freeman of Kensington & Chelsea
  • Life Fellow at the College of Advocates, St Paul’s Cathedral
  • Fellow of the Royal Veterinary College
  • Member of the Court of Patrons, RCS
  • Freeman of the City of London
  • Hon. Freeman of the Apothecaries’ Society
  • Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London

Other commitments

Other than his charitable commitments, Lord Cadogan’s duties include the Life Presidency of Cadogan Estates Limited, which he took on after over thirty years of steering the company as Chairman. Earlier in his career, he spent 16 years at Schroder’s Bank where he became an assistant Director, as well as serving 37 years as Director of Eagle Star.

A keen sportsman in his youth, he was formerly a Director of Chelsea Football Club for 20 years (and a past Chairman), as well as Deputy Senior Steward of the Jockey Club and a Director of Jockey Club Estates Limited.
