On Tuesday 4th March 14, vice chairman of the Spalding & Bourne Branch John Kirkman attended a cheque presentation at the Acres Retirement Home in Barnack, Lincs. Throughout 2013 the residents (all 10 to 15 of them) plus the staff of the Acres had held coffee mornings every Tuesday. Each one paying £1 for coffee/ tea and biscuits and the proceeds from these events plus an additional larger coffee morning held during the year raised the outstanding total of £1300.
The main organiser Val Dawson has been doing such events for over 14 years and has raised almost £30,000 for an array of charities and last year the LLR was chosen by the residents and we cannot thank them enough for their fantastic support. John gave a short presentation on the work of the LLR and then he and his wife (Jean) mingled with residents at their coffee morning. John did comment saying what a great group of people who were a real pleasure to chat to.
A huge well done to all at the Acres Retirement Home with Val Dawson receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from John and the group photo of the residents and supporters.
