After several years of wanting to complete a London to Paris bike ride, I have finally signed up.
So far I have ridden in the London to Brighton bike ride in 2011 and the London to Southend off road bike ride in 2013. Following on from the huge support shown on the Tour de France's recent visit to the UK this inspired me to finally sign up for the challenge.
I have owned a road bike for a few years, using it on my short commute to work, however this bike came to an end when I jumped off a kerb and the rear gears entangled with the spokes. Since then I have been using my mountain bike to commute to work. Several weeks ago, following a discussion with my brother who hinted about an interest in taking up road cycling, then several days later turning up on my doorstep with his new road bike, I decided to look for a new bike myself. I purchased a 2012 Trek Madone 4.5 second hand from pre loved. It was in great condition and exactly what I was after.
Since picking up the bike, I have been on three bike rides, and have been able to maintain a decent pace even on the longer rides. Furthest being 80 km on ride three.
I shall keep you all updated on my training as regularly as I can. Please feel free to follow my strava account for all my training rides.
