A brave team of cyclists from Amcor in Workington have recently completed the gruelling C2C cycle ride in support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. We want to thank them all for their determination, hard work and generosity!
The team set off from Whitehaven on the west coast and pedalled all the way to Sunderland on the east coast in just 2 days raising a fantastic £500 for LLR! The incredibly kind Amcor then donated another £500 to match the sponsorship giving a total of £1000!
A representative from Amcor said “Employees from Amcor at Salterbeck Trading Estate in Harrington were joined by colleagues from across the UK and also from Amcor Alzira, Spain and Amcor Reflex, Poland to take part in the C2C challenge. The money raised is to be split between West Cumbria Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and Penny Brohn Cancer Care. The group included staff from operations, quality and development departments from all the plants across Europe. They were pushed to their limits to complete the 150 mile route but team work and determination helped everyone to finish safely and in good spirits. The event was based on Amcor’s business principles of social responsibility and environmental sustainability, while raising money for local causes. Amcor Flexibles Cumbria produce flexible packaging for many of the worlds leading brands. “
The photos below show the team before they set off in Whitehaven, and the cheque being presented to Chris and his wife Anne from our West Cumbria Branch.
A huge thank you to everyone who cycled, supported and donated so generously!
