Coffee morning raises over £3,000 for Bloodwise

Dr Michael and Margaret McGregor generously hosted their annual coffee morning once again on Thursday 24 November 2016. Regularly attended by around 400 people, the event raised a fantastic £3,029.20 for blood cancer research!

Held at the Corn Exchange in Bourne, the coffee morning took place between 10am and 1pm. A coffee and mince pie were on offer to all who attended the fundraiser, as well as 16 stalls selling a variety of goods including books, DVD’s, glassware, pottery, cakes and preserves to name a few. The event was so popular that the organisers ran out of mince pies and had to run out to replenish supplies!

Margaret and Michael have held their coffee morning every year since their son John passed away to leukaemia in 1985. They have raised a staggering £100,000 since then and continue to go strong.

Michael says: ‘It doesn’t worry me to make a certain amount, we raise what money we can and it is a worthwhile sum for a worthwhile cause’.

Louise Dawson, Regional Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Midlands says: ‘It has been a pleasure working with the McGregor’s on their coffee morning this year and I’m delighted it has proved as popular and as successful as always. We would like to say a huge thank you to both Margaret and Michael, to all their helpers and of course to all who support the event every year’.
