Another day, another breakfast

Some say we're only in it for the food!

This morning some of the team headed out, this time starting from various points to make the most of the end of the dreaded smog but possibly also the end of the nice weather.

Lee, accompanied by fellow hockey club member James Suett, headed out at 7:30 whilst an hour earlier, Trevor had set out from Rayleigh in the early morning sunshine. Sadly, Trevor's fingers were not benefitting from any heat from that sun as the fingerless gloves came out a tad too soon.

The 3 arrived almost simultaneously to meet me and Keiran and we head out towards Felsted to once again enjoy some of Le Tour's Essex delights , whilst James Burns holidays in Cornwall and Dave Hatch is convalescing.

A good pace was set with me finally getting to grips with the gears on my new bike on its first trip out. What a difference it makes though! Cycling can get expensive if you're not careful ;-), but thanks to the support of Cycles UK, not as expensive as it might be.

The team once again the ups and downs of the area and went for it on the airfield sprint, making very good time all round and arriving at our breakfast stop Knead Food at The Bkue Egg, 5 minutes before opening. Hot drinks and sausage sarnies duly ordered and devoured, the team were ready to head out again as Trevor had to get to work. If you get a chance do stop by at Knead Food as the food there is great and the staff make you very welcome.

Heading towards Rayne we upped the pace and enjoyed some peloton time before saying goodbye to Trevor. The rest of the team headed along the old railway line into Great Leighs, then out towards Witham to see lee and James home. (we look out for each other very well). Keiran and I then headed back homewards and in all 39 miles were completed in very enjoyable fashion.

next Saturday 12th April, the team will be at Wickes in Braintree supporting Trevor's London to Paris fundraising by cycling the 311 miles on two turbos on the day. If you're local, pop by and give us some encouragement and if not you could always text TJAC99 £1 to 70070 to give the 'Benchmark' a boost.

thanks for reading, may the wind be always at your backs and the sausages premium quality.

Another great blog lads. Sounds like the training is going really well and, more importantly, that you're enjoying it all. I'm keeping a keen eye on London to Paris as I'm sorely tempted to do it next year.
