I am delighted to share with you the wonderful news that staff at North East property and energy firm Banks Group have doubled their fundraising to help beat blood cancer!

The staff chose to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in 2012, and raised £4,000 throughout the year, with a number of events and activities held. Banks Group chose to continue to support us again in 2013, and raised a further £4,000, bringing their total raised to an incredible £8,000.

In early 2013, I met staff at their Head Office in Durham to be presented with their monies raised. This Spring I was able to go along and meet some of the team at the Brenkley Surface Mine to be presented with a second donation, shown in the above photo.

Staff from across Banks Group's different businesses and locations joined in a range of fundraising activities throughout the year, including workplace lunches, raffles and competitions.

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at Banks Group, says “Quite a few of our staff have loved ones that have been affected by leukaemia and lymphoma, so there was a real drive to do as much as we could across the team, and we’re really pleased to have matched last year’s total.”

Many thanks to everyone at Banks Group for their fantastic fundraising and support for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research throughout 2012 and 2013. We are delighted that Banks Group chose to extend their support and fundraising for us for a second year in 2013. Their £8,000 raised is a terrific contribution to our work to beat blood cancer.
