Beginning training

It has been about a year and a half since Caitlin and I ran the Reading half marathon for LLR so I was beginning to look around for others events to do. As I injured my feet last time (determined to run a time under 2 hours - I did it in 1.58) more running was out of the question. Ben then found this bikeathon and so we thought it would be a great event to train up for before starting our first teaching jobs in September. 

With Ben currently in Cambodia visiting his mum, I have started to go on some small evening rides to get used to being on my bike. This weekend I am planning on going on a longer ride to see how much I can do without it hurting too much the next day! And then the proper training will begin next week. I think it will be hard work getting up to 52 miles!

If it's any consolation I've not done anywhere near enough training yet either and won't really be starting in earnest until next week. Have a great weekend and thanks again for all your support - it's because of people like you that I'm still here today.

Read your previous blog and noticed you've been out on the road again over the weekend. Keep this up and you're going to smash the Bikeathon - I'll be there too riding the 52 mile route. I haven't been quite as good as you with the training but I've still got a bit of time to turn it round!
