Here at the Winterton and District Branch we have a busy week of fundraising ahead of us at such an important time as we are pressing on to reach the £50,000 milestone, starting on Friday 4th April when the Butchers Arms Winterton will be hosting an 'extreme make-up evening' following on from the success of the 'make-up selfies'. The pub are challenging as many males and females to come along, get plastered in the non alcoholic sense, raise some money, have a sing on the karaoke, and of course a bit of a giggle all in the name of beating blood cancers.
Following this we will be hosting our Grand Final our fourth annual Little Talent Contest on Tuesday 8th April at Winterton Community Acadaemy. This year’s Little Talent Contest has run slightly differently, although the same stages have been implemented (auditions and semi-finals) we have not been there to run them due to the time of year the contest has been held and our University and College commitments. Fortunately enough, due to the experience the children get out of the contest the schools were more than happy to support and run the earlier stages of the contest. Although many members of our team were gutted to not be a part of this it has meant that we have been able to put more time, energy and commitment into this years final to make it the biggest and best final yet and giving the children the best possible experience, so we have no doubts that it is going to be a very successful night!
As well as seeing our local youthful talents there will be performances from Directions Dance Group and Rob Wilson, as well as special guests Don Johnson - Winterton and District Lions, Judy King - Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Hull and East Riding Fundraising Group, Tracy Norton - Branch Supporter and local Youth Worker, and new to the judging panel for 2014, Julie Davey - Winterton Community Academy Peer Mentor Supervisor, along with special guest Francesca Marritt, Mayor of Winterton! It is one of our favourite events of the year and we cannot wait for Tuesday to move one step closer to beating blood cancers and reaching £50,000!
Our busy and hectic Easter week of fundraising doesn't end there! On Saturday 12th April we will be hosting 'An Evening With Full On supported by Luke West.' Luke West is a very talented guitarists and singer having won many awards who is also part of our fundraising team, and Full On are a local Rock Duo who have always been keen to support our branch! It is set to be another fantastic night of fundraising for our branch starting at 7.00pm at Winterton Commnuity Pavailion and will be a great way for us to celebrate the end of a busy week of fundraising.
