Today finally arrived and we woke up to some fairly good weather although it was quite windy. Bikes loaded onto the car, we set off for Arrowe Park. It was very busy there but we found our way round and eventually were on our way. It was slow going through the park but opened up as we hit the road. On the prom at Hoylake, we had the wind behind us and hit 24 mph.
To cut a long story short, we got back in around an hour and a half. The highlight of the trip was standing collecting our medal and spotting Chris Boardman who had been round himself. We got a couple of photos and had quite a long chat. He was a really great guy and, as he does a lot of cycling round the Wirral, hopefully we'll see him again.
Thank you to everyone who has so generously sponsored David, Matthew and me. I know the money will go to a good cause. Now, where is that saddle cream??
