The pituresque landscape of Derbyshire is playing host to some fantastic events for Bloodwise this year.

The pituresque landscape of Derbyshire is playing host to some fantastic events for Bloodwise this year and we’re delighted to invite you to join us. Whether you’re a keen walker, runner or cyclist we have events for all ages and abilities across the county this summer and autumn.

Carsington Water Walk – Sunday 17 July

First up is the Carsington Water Walk on Sunday 17 July. Join us and walk to beat blood cancer on this beautiful eight mile circular walk around Carsington Water Reservoir in Ashbourne. You'll enjoy stunning views across the water and follow a completely traffic free route, taking you past nature reserves, along forest paths and finishing along the spectacular dam.

The NatterJack – Sunday 4 September

On Sunday 4 September, the second NatterJack cycle ride is taking place along the 27 mile stretch of the Tissington Trail, starting from Ashbourne. TheNatterJack is organised in memory of local man, Jack Cartledge, who sadly passed away to leukaemia in January this year. The event is suitable for all the family and participants can choose the distance they wish to cycle. Medals will be awarded to all finishers and there will be cake stops along the route!

Organiser Annie Astle says: ‘All proceeds from the NatterJack go to Bloodwise in memory of our dear friend Jack. This event was created for him and his lovely partner Nat to help give them a boost whilst going through months of gruelling treatment.’

We hope to see many friendly faces there cycling in memory of Jack and raising money to ensure we can continue to save lives through our research in to all 137 different blood cancers.

Golden Gate Gallop – Sunday 9 October

Sunday 9 October – a date for your diary! The ever popular Golden Gate Gallop is a five mile run and two mile fun run around the grounds of the beautiful Elvaston Castle. Starting and finishing at Elvaston Cricket Club, the Golden Gate Gallop is organised by the Derbyshire Fundraising Branch and has raised thousands in support of blood cancer research.

Emma or Louise from the midlands team will be running too (exactly who to be decided soon!) We hope to see lots of you there, so run with us in 2016 and test those PB’s! (But don’t show us up too much!)

Registration to open soon. For more information, click here.

We hope to see you at one of our events soon, whether it’s in Derbyshire or throughout the rest of the midlands. You can view all our events here or contact Emma & Louise on 0121 415 8076 or at midlands@bloodwise.org.uk to find out more about what's taking place locally.
