Lymphoma patient John Dodds talks about what inspired him to sign up for the York Balloon Walk.

We're very excited to be holding our first Bloodwise Balloon Walk on 19th March in the beautiful city of York.  We have been chatting with long-term supporter John Dodds from North Yorkshire who is taking part in the walk and is encouraging others to join him and walk together to beat blood cancer.

John became involved with Bloodwise after attending a presentation held at York University, where he heard, for the first time, of a cancer charity especially relevant to his own blood cancer non Hodgkin follicular lymphoma. John said “thanks to the pioneering work of Bloodwise, I'm alive and able to enjoy an active life. It's a privilege to be able to take part in the walk especially in such a stunningly beautiful, mind blowing city like York. I have participated in Bloodwise walks before with my wife and always really enjoyed the day”.

John said he “is looking forward to meeting up with some amazing likeminded folk, some whom he’s sure will perhaps astound you with their sheer courage and determination. It will be a time to remember, and even repeat, and like all of the best fund raising events, will be fun!”

We are constantly inspired by the stories of those fundraising for us and the dedication of our supporters like John. We’re delighted to bring the walk to Yorkshire and look forward to seeing lots more friendly faces on the day.
