Fundraising has a new boost as the Calendar Girls unveiled a delicious way to support blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research at City Inn, Leeds

City Inn are the first in Yorkshire to join the Un-Birthday campaign, inviting customers to indulge in sweet treats by donating £5 to the charity for each afternoon tea sold between Wednesday 19 May and Saturday 19 June.

Huw O'Connor, Managing Director at City Inn says: "We are honoured to host this fantastic launch event with Yorkshire’s own original Calendar Girls here at City Inn Leeds.

"Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only charity dedicated to funding research into blood cancers with the ultimate aim of finding a cure for them all. By donating £5 to the Un-Birthday fundraising campaign from each of our afternoon teas for a month, we hope to raise vital funds and awareness for this excellent charity.”

There’s no sign of a shop-bought Victoria Sponge at the special afternoon tea to launch the new calendar and delectable fundraising campaign, organised by City Inn Leeds.

The Calendar Girls are calling upon people to celebrate the 50th birthday of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research by organising their own Un-Birthday fundraising tea parties and buying the latest calendar.

Calendar Girl Angela Baker says “Everyone knows how important a good cake is and we’re happy to let you into our baking secrets. Please buy a calendar and get baking – why not organise a special Un-Birthday fundraising tea party? Every penny raised will help Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research help families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”

Afternoon Tea at City Inn is available between 2 – 5pm daily and includes freshly made sandwiches, cakes and scones accompanied by a wide selection of traditional and herbal teas.  £5 from each ‘tea’ sold between 19 May and 19 June 2010 will go to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
