At the end of March there was a sell out production of Calendar Girls at Pendley Court Theatre during which the local branch of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research raised over fifteen hundred pounds in donations.
On Thursday 28th March three of the original Calendar Girls – Angela Baker, Beryl Bamforth and Chris Clancy - hosted a dinner attended by 60 people at Pendley Manor and attended a performance of the play. The play is a tribute to John Baker, Angela’s husband, who died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in July 1998 aged 54. Since the first calendar was launched 14 years ago the Calendar Girls have raised over 4 million pounds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in John’s memory.
