Sponsorship money is still pouring in in support of a world record breaking seven day treadmill run by 48-year-old Sharon Gayter. Sharon ran 832 km in seven days, smashing the previous men and women’s records for the extraordinary challenge which stood at 753 km and 649 km respectively.

Sharon, an ultra-long distance athlete and Teesside University sports lecturer, took on the challenge at the University at the end of December. She was raising money for Zoe’s Place, a local children’s hospice, and the Charlotte Wren Forget Me Not Fund.

Mike & Claire Wren set up a Forget Me Not Fund for their daughter in 2007 to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Charlotte was just 3 when she lost her battle with the rare childhood leukaemia - juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia (JMML). Mike is also a lecturer at Teesside University.

So far Sharon has raised over £1,200 for the two charities through her run. People can still sponsor her at her online fundraising page here and read more about her amazing achievement here
