Last week team for a cure held a Swish, a ladies clothes, shoes and accessories swapping event at CMS. The idea of the evening was for attendees to update their wardrobe by bringing along unwanted items of clothing, accessories or shoes and swapping them with their friends and colleagues.
Each item that was brought to be swapped was exchanged for a token which could be used to swap with any other item available on the evening. Additional tokens were also available to purchase on the evening for anyone that fancied additional items.
We had lots of kind donations from friends, family and colleagues who were unable to attend the Swish but still wanted to contribute towards the success of the evening so we had a great buffer of items even before people began to arrive. All in all we were delighted to offer 3 rails of clothes, a table of shoes and jewellery and a table of accessories including scarves and bags to be swapped. Included in the ticket price attendees enjoyed a glass of bubbly and a cake.
After the Swish, there were some lovely pieces remaining so we laid these out in one of our meeting rooms and invited staff to browse and purchase any items the following day. The final remaining items are being donated to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research’s charity shop.
The Swish was a great success. We even had one of the attendees email us with a photo of her wearing her newly acquired dress the next day! In total the Swish raised £284.50 and an excellent evening was had by all.
Thank you to CMS Cameron McKenna LLP for providing the venue and the drinks.
Team for a cure are now busy preparing for our next fundraising event and also for the mooting and problem solving task which is part of the Young Lawyers Enterprise Award challenge.
