Get on your bikes and bike to beat blood Cancer at the Clumber Park Charity Bikeathon 2014 on Sunday 8th June.

This is a fantastic opportunity to have fun with all the family whilst raising vital funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The charity have been working to beat blood cancer for over 50 years through research & groundbreaking clinical trials that make a real difference to the lives of families affected by blood cancer, like our family. We have been involved with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research since our son, Joe, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in January 2010 at just 24 months of age. He has had to endure 3.5 years of gruelling treatment but has now won his fight, words can not express how incredibly proud of him we are. This years event will be special to us as it will mark one year since Joe (6) finished treatment in June last year. As a family we won't stop fundraising until blood cancer is beaten but we need people to come and join us. There has been massive improvement into survival rates over the years and that is credit to the fantastic work that charities like Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research do but there are still some for whom the outlook is not good and we need to make sure that everybody can survive blood cancer.

We are delighted that the Nottingham branch have asked us to help promote this year's event. We would really like to encourage families to get involved. It isn't a race, it is a family event that will really make a difference to families like ours.

Entrants can choose to cycle 9 or 19 miles through the picturesque roads and tracks within Clumber Park, whilst taking in some of the most idyllic scenery in the UK as they pass though. The Bikeathon starts from Clumber Park in Worksop with cyclists setting off at 10am.

The route will be signposted and marshalled, with refreshment stops and all riders will receive a free t-shirt and commemorative medal on completion of the Bikeathon. You can also support this event by bringing along a picnic and cheering the riders on or you could volunteer to help on the day.

Hi Leanne,

Just wanted to add my thanks to the others for all your support for the charity. What you're doing is fantastic and it's great to hear that Joe is doing so well! You're an inspiration to us all and we'll do our best to promote this event for you as best we can.

Stay in touch and let us know if there's anything more that we can help with as that's what we're here for!

All the best!

Me too, one of my favourites. :-)
