Join TV and sports stars for the Ramsbottom Celebrity Cricket Bash on Friday 31 July.

Acre Bottom cricket ground in Ramsbottom will play host to stars from popular TV shows including Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Shameless as they embrace the summer of cricket and prepare to pad up for the Ramsbottom Big Celebrity Cricket Bash on Friday 31 July. The festival of cricket will raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The celebrity team - which includes past and present Coronation Street favourites such as Graeme Hawley, Colson Smith and Tristan Gemmill, as well as Waterloo Road’s William Ash, former Scotland and Blackburn footballer Kevin Gallagher and Lancashire comedian Ted Robbins - will take on the Ramsbottom Traders Cricket Club on the Friday evening.

The match is part of a festival of cricket which kicks off at 11am with a junior match, followed by a contest between Ramsbottom Cricket Club and the Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) Masters team featuring former England players and Ashes heroes Dominic Cork, Simon Jones and Ryan Sidebottom.

Graeme Hawley, who helped organise the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research celebrity team, said: “We are really excited about the celebrity match this year. We have put together a great team of TV and sporting stars, many of whom can play cricket very well, although I don't really include myself in that bracket! It's a wonderful event for the community and will raise a lot of money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, who I have had a strong association with for over 10 years and is very close to my heart."

Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker in the long-running ITV soap, added:  "I can't wait to put the cricket kit on again! The last time was great and I’ve a feeling that this time will be even better. I'm hoping for a few runs and that we raise a lot of money for the charity."

Actors Marc Anwar (Corrie), Qasim Akhtar (Shameless and Corrie), Warren Hegg (former Lancashire and England cricketer), comedian Ted Robins, and Stephen Lowe (BBC Lancashire presenter) will also join the celebrity team in their quest for victory.

Catriona Tait, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Regional Manager for the North, said: “This event is the perfect excuse to take the family along for a great day and to catch some well-known faces from TV and sport batting and bowling to help beat blood cancer. We’re so grateful to all those involved in organising the festival in support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Every penny raised from this event will help us in our mission to beat blood cancer, stop people from dying and make patients’ lives better.”

Adam Hollioake, who will play in the PCA Masters team, commented: “The lads who played at Ramsbottom a couple of years ago tell me it’s a great venue. Always enjoyed my trips to Lancashire in the past so I’m looking forward to another great day.”

Captain of the PCA team, Paul Nixon, added: “We know Ramsbottom will have a strong side out on Friday so we have drafted in a couple of our big guns in the bowling department. I am sure they will get plenty of support from the locals so it should be a really good atmosphere on the ground.”

The public can buy tickets on the day at Acre Bottom cricket ground. Food, drink and entertainment will be available throughout the day.

Donations can also be made via the team’s justgiving page.

Hope you don't mind me adding information about this Event on Tristan Gemmill's Fansite. Happy to promote it. Do you need tickets to attend the Event? I might come along and support it with a friend.

Not at all, many thanks for sharing Lorraine. The event is ticketed but these can be bought on the day at the cricket ground.
