Counting down to Christmas

My four year old son, Joe, has recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), and this blog is tracking the course of his treatment, and life around it. For regular posts see https://kamransword.wordpress.com, or follow us on Twitter @joehasleukaemia

We are still waiting for Joe’s counts to recover so that we can proceed with the consolidation treatment and plan around Christmas. In the meantime, Joe’s energy levels and appetite have been increasing, and he has managed a few more sessions in school. He didn’t make it for the nativity show, but came home today with a haul of Christmas crafts – including a paper plate wreath, a cardboard hand reindeer and lollipop Christmas tree (in case you couldn’t tell!). In the classroom it was organised mayhem, in the best possible way, but Joe was no more bewildered than many of the children. He even admitted to having enjoyed himself, once he was safely home. Priceless.
