On Thursday 4th July supporters of the Cowbridge Book Festival in the Vale of Glamorgan were treated to an interesting and enlightening interview with war veteran Eileen Younghusband by the popular BBC Wales radio broadcaster Roy Noble. The occasion was the launch of Eileen’s 3rd book Men I have Known which charts her long life from the 1920s to the present day and through the many famous men she has met. The event was also a celebrated Eileen’s 92nd birthday.

Roy Noble guided Eileen through her many stories and anecdotes that revealed what a truly extraordinary woman she is and what a fascinating life she has led.  The audience was given a unique insight into her long life and heard intimate and personal opinions about some of the most influential men of the twentieth century including Winston Churchill, Rex Harrison, Dylan Thomas, and even Idi Amin!

All funds raised at the event will be divided evenly between Noah Ark Children’s Hospital and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research

The next Festival event is a children’s storytelling day on Saturday 13th July at the Old Hall, Cowbridge when Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Comes to Cowbridge – details from the festival website.cowbridgebookfestival@talktalk.net
