In August this year I will cycle from Dad's birthplace, Graz, Austria, to where his ashes are buried in Melbury Osmond, Dorset. I will ride through the Austrian Alps, Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and England, covering a distance of approximately 1150 miles. I hope to complete this in 14 days.
Until October 2013 I hadn't ridden a push bike for about 15 years, so this will be a challenge. I'll be updating on the progress of my training on a regular basis so that you can see by the time August comes I should be up to it!
Dad was only 56 when he lost his fight and he and Mum never got to see the retirement that they wanted together.
A loving wife, 2 daughters and his son, 4 grandchildren and countless others whose lives were touched by Dad now move on without the love, guidance and fun that he had to give, and it shouldn't have to be like that.
I've lost a parent and a grand parent to blood cancer, and another is fighting now. Many of you may well have been through something similar, or you may know someone else who has. Let's raise every last penny that we can and end these diseases for good.
