Day 11 - Maintenance required on Jim's bike. Front wheel axle grinding so Andreas, my aunt's husband, took us to Maxdorf's cycle shop. Comment from shop was " this is too old to repair " however he managed to improve the bearings and the axle, hopefully it should get us to the end of our journey. Visited Uncle Andreas' orchard and his home made windmill which generated power to cut logs for winter heating. Called in on my two other aunts, aged 88 and 87, who are in a home now. In the evening we were kindly taken to the largest wine festival in the world at Bad Durkheim .
Day 12 - Woke up to what we thought would be a quiet day in, resting for the journey start on Monday, however my auntie suggested a walk for lunch, omitting to tell us it was for ten miles. Scenic route through the vineyards in the sunshine. Very enjoyable though as we were given a glass of new wine. New wine is the first raw pressing from the crop before it ferments. Highly reccomended
