Do good, feel good!

At Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research we’re always looking for people and organisations who share our passion for life and our vision of a future without blood cancer. We're all about collaboration. We know we can change the world if we share knowledge, expertise and resources. What's more, we love working with others - whether it's through research partnerships, sports events or fundraising with employees of longstanding partners like Wickes (who just surpassed the £4 million mark!). Forming new connections, meeting new people, the energy, the possibilities, it's part of who we are. And it's not only great for achieving our goals, it makes us feel good!

Last month, our Corporate Fundraising Team went on a mission to make people feel good. Setting up a stand at The Business Show at Olympia London, surrounded by small businesses networking and industry experts holding interactive workshops, we set out to spread the good news of the power of partnership! With 350 exhibitors and 25,000 businesses attending, we needed to come up with a way to stand out.

Our stand (pictured above) definitely oozed that feel-good factor. Covered in fun pictures showing the myriad of ways people can help beat blood cancer and inhabited by the smiliest of staff, people were really drawn in. To ensure we spread the good news far and wide, team members walked through the exhibition handing out fortune cookies with a compliment in. It was amazing how well people responded - taking them out of their business oriented mindset for just a few moments got us some really great smiles. People were particularly happy with being told "you really deserve a pay rise"!

Of course, we went there with the main aim of finding new partners, so on the other side of the compliment slip we gave small fundraising suggestions on how people could get their companies involved, such as starting up an office jargon jar or challenging someone to a sponsored silence. We showed some of our most exciting and diverse partnership fundraising activities in the form of the 'Feel Good News' newspaper and set up a small stand so people could browse through our Feel Good iPad app (see above).

The majority of people liked the idea of fundraising to beat blood cancer. We collected a tonne of business cards which the whole team will be working through to create some new partnerships for 2015. Now is when the hard work starts, but so far, our first visit to The Business Show was definitely a success!

If you've any ideas on companies who might like to work with us, projects we could ask organisations to fund or great fundraising activities for large groups of people, please get in touch. We're always open to new ideas and want to make the most of every opportunity.

Our feel-good stand definitely made an impact - so much so that the Business Show organisers have given us the opportunity to become a partner for this event. So we'll be back there next year, bigger and better. It's a great opportunity to make new connections and get inspired.

We know we can achieve more together than we ever could alone. Partnering with us can boost your brand, business, staff and local community. Contact our dedicated corporate team to get involved.

Great blog Rachel! Sounds like the Business Show was a huge success and will hopefully generate some new corporate partnerships this year!
