Hello, my name is Alison Turnnidge, I'm a 42 yr old wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunty.
I decided to raise money to help beat blood cancer because it will help people like my Dad, who was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) in 2009. He started chemo in 2012 and due to tumor lysis syndrome, which is a life threatening complication of chemo, ended up in intensive care fighting for his life. He has since finished his first course of treatment but will never be cured.
The first thing that came to mind that I knew I could do and help raise some all important cash was to shave my head. No I didn't have long flowing locks that would make people say why, I just had short, greying hair but people still asked why I wanted to shave my hair off and was surprised when I told them it was for charity. Some people just don't get it do they!
So I set the date, set up a just giving page and let people know what I was doing and why.
Now I have a shaved head which albeit still has about .5cm of hair on it, so not totally bald but near enough. I've had people saying that I'm brave but I can't see what is so brave about it.
Looking forward to seeing what colour my hair will be when it finally grows back but for the time being I'll be seen sporting a rather fetching red LLR beanie :oD
Alison has raised £260 so far, surpassing her original £200 target. However, it's not too late to make a donation on her Justgiving page to raise her total even higher.
