Dransfield Properties Ltd have been supporting Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research since 2007 through the company’s Tour of Europe Charity Cycle Challenge, and aren’t stopping yet.
The team aim to cover one leg every year of a challenging route through Europe by bike – aiming to finish in London in 2020 where the team first set out from in 2007. So far the Tour has raised more than £250,000 for charity. The riders who participate in the event each year fund their own trip costs, and every penny raised goes to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and their other chosen charities.
The first stage of the 2020 cycle challenge set off in 2007 from London, led by brothers Mark and Paul Dransfield, arriving 200 miles later in the French capital Paris. Year 2 saw the team rise to the challenge again and cycle the 285 miles from Paris to Lyon. 2009 took the team from Lyon to Marseilles, having to conquer the notorious Mont Ventoux, making it the most difficult leg of the challenge so far.
2010 saw the brothers lead the team from France to Italy – cycling 270 miles from Marseille to Portofino. The following year saw the team travel down Italy from Portofino to the capital Rome. In 2012 the riders picked up the journey in Rome and cycled to Dubrovnik and in 2013 the journey went from Dubrovnik to Trieste. 2014 saw the riders cycling from Trieste in Italy to the Bavarian city of Munich on the 8th leg of their epic challenge, and now looking ahead to their 2015 ride!
