Well, it's been roughly a fortnight since Birmingham Bikeathon 2015 and a report back to my supporters is long overdue.
I have to say that the course was a good deal tougher than last year. A great deal more ground was covered in the Broadway area - mainly involving some substantial climbs. One of these was Snowshill which made an appearance in the 2014 Tour of Britain.
Sadly, my ride was cut short at 72.3 miles due to a spoke snapping on my rear wheel. It was so buckled that i was unable to continue. I was disappointed as I was just getting my second wind! Thankfully, the rider support provided by the Bikeright team was second to none. They are indeed a rare breed - cheerful cycle mechanics! They were so enthusiastic and welcoming.
May I thank all those who have supported me and since praised my efforts - more so than when I completed the full 100-miler last year! How very British.
