I have just received a lovely letter from Caroline Mitchell that I wanted to share with you.
Caroline organised an event with Carolyn Russell last month called 'An Evening with Alan Titchmarsh'.
Over 200 people braved a wet and windy evening on Monday 7 April 2014 to come to a fortunately dry marquee in Odiham, Hampshire, to be entertained by Alan Titchmarsh. He read stories, a poem or two, sang, gave light hearted gardening advice and above all, made everyone laugh a great deal.
An auction and a raffle of some wonderful prizes and the total profit from the evening was a staggering £17,580.00! All the proceeds are being shared by Leukaemia & Lymphome Research and The Lullaby Trust, which funds research into Cot Death and supports bereaved families.
They chose to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research for two main reasons. Carolyn lost her husband to Chronic myeloid leukaemia in 1993 and Caroline's brother Simon, gave a moving presentation on the night about his battle with Acute myeloid leukaemia, and his subsequent triumph over this dreadful disease.
I would like to thank Caroline, Carolyn and Simon for their huge support and amazing generosity to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
