Last Sunday 8th February 2015 saw the annual Paul Lee-Davis Kart Race take place once again at Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire, in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Organiser Dan Underhill has organised this ever popular event in memory Paul for the last four years, a motorsport-mad 37 year old from Staffordshire who sadly lost an 18 month battle with a rare form of Leukaemia in 2011.

Paul is remembered by all he met for being a fun-loving, larger than life character who was truly in his element when competing on track. Having rekindled his childhood passion for karting, Paul competed with the Club100 series between 2008 and 2010.

Over 60 drivers gathered on a frosty but beautiful morning at Whilton Mill with the aim of having fun whilst raising as much money as possible. Each driver had 3 x 7 lap heats to qualify for the finals, which saw wins for Dan Underhill, Ian Blake, Jon Maycock, Ian Munro, Peter Cowan, James Leutchford, Jake Dennis, Rich Ward & Jonny Goddard.

Prior to the finals, there was a charity auction held in the clubhouse to give everyone a chance to warm-up and donate some cash. The lots included VIP F1 factory tours, a replica race-suit, European F3 & Blancpain Series weekend passes & signed Formula One merchandise.

With the karts re-fuelled and checked-over, it was on to the next stage of racing. After three tightly fought finals, huge congratulations must be made to Formula Three driver Jake Dennis who took the top spot with Freddie Gallagher and Jon Maycock taking second and third respectively.

The final figure raised by the event is expected to reach and surpass a fantastic £4500! Special thanks must go to Dan Underhill & Whilton Mill for the organisation and smooth running of the event and to all who took part and donated.

A big thanks must also go to the prize/auction contributors: Jack Dex Racing, Whilton Mill, COVKARTSPORT, Carlin Motorsport, Craig Dolby/JRM, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, Sahara Force India F1 Team, Club100 Racing, SWB Motorsport and also to JAM Motorsport Photography for capturing the event.

This is an absolutely fantastic event that always does well and is an incredible tribute to Paul. It sounds like this year's event was another great success and I hope it raised even more money to help us beat blood cancer.
