A group of family and friends are fundraising in memory of Kirsty Longfellow, who sadly died of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in March 2012.
Kirsty was diagnosed in December 2010 and despite treatment unfortunately she relapsed and Kirsty made the decision not to have any more treatment to spend the time she had left with her family and friends. Despite her battle with leukaemia, Kirsty was determined to raise awareness and support others, and began organising a charity event to fundraise for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and the Teenage Cancer Trust. Sadly, Kirsty passed away a week before the event, however one of Kirsty’s last wishes was for the event to go ahead.
Family and friends have been fundraising in Kirsty's memory, including on the group's JustGiving page, where over £4000 has been raised. 26 members of the group organised a fundraising bike ride in September, cycling from Hull to Withernsea and raising £2000 from the cycle.
Kirsty's charity event will take place on Saturday 6th October in Hull City Hall. Kirsty's Red Carpet Charity Event will be a black tie event with live entertainment, tasty treats and cocktails. There will be activities taking place on the night including auctions, raffles, professional photos and much more. To book tickets for the event please visit the group's own website, and on the night you will be able to purchase special Wristbands made in memory of Kirsty.
