My first week of training I did 12.5 miles on Tuesday, 5 miles on Thursday and 19 miles yesterday.  I am following the training programme suggested by the charity.  My brother and sister-in-law supported me yesterday - I had my brother cyling behind me shouting "pedal faster, pedal faster" - he was telling me I was only cycling at 8 miles per hour and needed to increase my speed.  Great support - I wouldn't have achieved the distance in the time without them both.  It did not help that the bike I have loaned needs a service so I couldn't change down to the lowest gear.  My legs felt ok at the end of the ride but I was physically worn out - I went to bed for an hour!  I am wondering if I will be able to do the 52 miles in September.

Thanks for the update Mary - well done on getting out on the bike last week. Sounds like you're well on course this stage and I'm glad that you're finding the training plan useful. I hope the legs aren't too sore and that you sort out your bike issues!
