The Grimsby & District Branch originally founded in 1962, just two years after Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research formed as a charity.

Throughout this time the Branch's volunteer members have tirelessly worked to raise funds to beat blood cancer, and I was delighted to recently join the Branch members (pictured above) as they celebrated having raised £1 million for the charity - an incredible achievement!

The Branch were holding their annual Shopping Extravaganza, a two day event, and I was able to join them as they welcomed shoppers, and celebrated this fundraising success!

One shopper Rachel Kloosterboer (pictured centre right), through paying her entry to the first night, helped the Branch reach the £1 million mark and she was presented with a celebratory bottle of champagne to mark the occasion!

The Branch are involved in a great range of fundraising events and activities throughout the year including Golf Days, Bikeathons and this Shopping Extravaganza, which alone raised approximately £14,000 this year.

A huge thanks and well done to the Branch on behalf of everyone at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research on this wonderful achievement, and terrific total raised over the past 50 years.

Together we will beat blood cancer.

This is wonderful news, Catriona!

Congratulations and huge thanks to everyone involved with Grimsby and District Branch for reaching the £1 million mark and everything they're doing to help us beat blood cancer. Truly inspirational stuff and it's thanks to people like them that blood cancer patients like me are still here today. Keep up the good work!
