Fundraiser Jonathan Bradley got in touch with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research following his daughter's diagnosis with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in 2011.
Jonathan, his daughter Jenna, and family joined us on Beefy's Great British Walk in Newcastle earlier this year, and Jonathan has some exciting upcoming plans to raise funds to help beat blood cancers, including a sponsored leg wax tomorrow. Jonathan would like to share his story with our supporters and he'll be adding regular blogs on to the site. Here's his first blog below:
“Since Jenna was diagnosed with ALL in August of last year, I felt greatly urged to try and take control of what control I could exert on the situation.
The truth of it was, I didn't really have a lot of control at all on anything. All Claire (my absolutely amazing wife) and I could do was watch our little girl undergo regular gruelling treatment which made her sick and made her hair fall out. All the while ceaselessly worrying.
I figured that helping to raise money was probably the best way in channeling my efforts...it's the one thing that I have influence on. Together with putting my legs through waxing torture (you can sponsor me at www.justgiving.com/bradleyphotography), I'm going to be going on a bike ride with ex-Olympic cyclist Yvonne McGregor MBE next spring. More to follow on that very soon but save to say, I'm going to have to start getting some training in.
Additionally, I made a return to the world of electronic/avant-garde music composition. ‘Enemy in the Blood’ is a journey based on Jenna's leukaemia treatment. A lot of it is based on chemotherapy sequences which are part-translated into musical phrasing which also injects some of the typical emotive background that goes on. It'll be on iTunes next year and all proceeds will be going to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Stay tuned for further updates.”
