I Can't Run But I Can Write

QVC Presenter Julia Roberts has written a debut novel, Life's a Beach and Then... and a percentage will go to LLR

I am always very impressed, and I must admit a little envious, when I read about all the physical activities so many of you take part in to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Although I was at one time a professional dancer and I still try to keep as fit as possible with Pilates and swimming I am finding that, as a result of paralytic poliomyelitis as a baby, I now have to limit my physical activity. That means I have to think of different ways to help raise funds.

At a talk I gave, almost two years ago, I promised that if the book I was then writing ever got into print I would be giving a percentage of the profits to LLR. The reason that it was so important for me to donate from sales of this book is that one of my main characters, Rosemary, has CML but unfortunately has a very different outcome from my own. I felt it was important for people to understand that while the majority of us now survive blood cancer not everyone does... YET!

Well that book is now in print and I keep my promises. It's called Life's a Beach and Then... and in the past few weeks since publication it has received thirty six five star reviews on Amazon

I am also planning on organising some book signing events around the country - maybe afternoon tea - with the profits to go to LLR. Do let me know on here if that would be of interest to any of you.

To kick things off I am doing a book signing on Saturday July 18th at a bookshop called Chapter One in Woodley, near Reading, at 11am. It would be lovely to meet you if you are in the area.

Thanks for reading
