After riding on Saturday, had to spend Sunday doing family duty so had to wait till today for another go and then this morning Anthea decided to buy my new shoes as an early birthday present so it was out with the new bike.
Moving from a triple to a compact was a bit of a leap of faith based on various bits of advice from shops and online and I was a bit wary but really didn't notice the difference on my ride. In the main gear changes ok but some "noise" so will need to get it set up when it goes back for it's safety check. Decided to do exactly the same route as I did Saturday for comparison and initial siigns are good as almost 10 mins quicker though it was later in the day and less trafiic about and the weather was glorious. All went well until the very end when pulling up to the garage couldn't get my foot out of the cleats in time and fell "elegantly" to the floor trying desperately to avoid marking the bike, all good. Need to practice more with the new system clearly.
Gear changes remain my achiles heel as I keep finding myself out of the sweet spot but plenty of time to practice.
So it's onwards and upwards, hopefully.
