The Jersey Branch give their report on the Kid's Triathlon in July...

Saturday 5th July 2014 was the only really bad windy rainy day we have had in Jersey for weeks and it was the day of our Kid's Triathlon!

However, we had appoximately 150 children register that day with their sponsorship forms, out of 180 expected and we are very proud of them and their parents for waiting in the awful weather. Our numbers are a bit haphazard as we lost most of our paper work to the wind and rain, but we carried on resolutely.

The actual triathlon ran very smoothly, with boys and then  girls of different age groups taking their turn, swimming, donning their t-shirt, cycling and then of course running. At the finishing line - a huge inflatable arch - they were met by Jersey's two top triathletes, Dan Halksworth and Tom Perchard who handed them a goodie bag, water and of course their medal together with their words of congratulations.

We had prizes to be drawn at the end of the event as a little extra but as most went home as soon as they had finished we presented them to the children who had rised the most sponsorship.

We also this year presented a shield to the school from which the most pupils had entered in proportion to the size of the school. This year Trinity Primary School won the shield which was presented to the school by Mrs. Chris Rowland, the Chairman of Jersey Branch.

We thank all our long suffering marshalls for being with us and everyone one else who supported us or assisted us on that day.

Absolutely great to read about so many youngsters getting active to beat blood cancer! Makes me feel like I have no excuses remaining not to go and do a triathlon myself. Congratulations to all involved!
