After losing his younger sister to leukaemia, Kevin decided to do something to help others who suffered from the disease.
In 2006 by walking unsupported to the North Pole, he was able to raise almost £100,000 to fund the construction of a new ward at the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.
In 2009, with his son Matt he walked unsupported to the geographical South Pole. Kevin says: "We pulled 80kg sledges in average temperatures of minus 40C (our coldest day was minus 47C) and whilst the winds were quite kind to us, the effective elevation of 12,000 feet was a real challenge. We are one of the very few father/son teams to have attempted this route and at 18, Matt became one of the the youngest people ever to complete it."
