Fancy yourself as the next Jo Brand? Think you can deliver a better one lliner than Jimmy Carr? Well now's your chance to prove it by telling us your favourite joke as part of our competition for Laugh for Leukaemia on Thursday 9th October.

If selected by us as our favourite you'll have the opportunity to perform your joke live on stage at this year's event which is being held at Kings Place theatre in London. If perfoming's not your thing, don't worry - if you'd rather not get up on stage you can choose for it to be read out instead by one of this year's acts instead.

How do I take part?

To take part, all you have to do is book your ticket for Laugh for Leukaemia and send us your favourite joke before our 31st August deadline in one of the following ways:

1. Send a tweet to our twitter handle @beatbloodcancer using the hashtag #laughforleukaemia

2. Post the joke on our Facebook wall

3. Write your joke in the comment box below

We'll announce the winner on Tuesday 9th September - a full month before the event so that if successful you've got time to rehearse!

In need of some inspiration? Here's a clip from renonwned impressionist and previous Laugh for Leukaemia performer Alistair McGowan imitating the BBC's Professor Brian Cox to help get you in the mood:

Don't forget to book your tickets for this year's Laugh for Leukaemia for a fun-filled evening watching some of Britain's funniest comedians.

I'm terrible with jokes but here goes nothing:

"A man walks into a bar with a cheese sandwich under his arm. "A pint of Guinness for me and the cheese sandwich," he says to the barman.

"I'm sorry, sir," replies the barman, "we don't serve food in here.""

"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Nobel who?"
"No bell that's why I knocked."
