We’re proud to say that Leicester and Rutland Branch’s successful partnership with Foxes Foundation - the charitable arm of Leicester City Football Club - has culminated in a cheque of £21,604.80 being presented to the branch chair Beverley Ashby and branch member Alison Smith.
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research’s Leicester and Rutland Branch was one of five charities chosen by the foundation to support during the 2014/15 season. Their successful campaign ‘Football is in our blood, cancer shouldn’t be’ saw a film profile supporter Lucas Sutheran’s battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when he was just 11 years old, highlighting to people the fact that blood cancer can affect people of all ages. 32,000 people saw the campaign film during Leicester City’s 13th December 2014 match day against Manchester City.
The partnership came about thanks to the initial approach submitted by Alison following the experience of her own daughter’s battle with leukaemia, resulting in a poignant and persuasive application.
Thank you to our amazing and dedicated branch who have supported the partnership throughout and raised a fantastic sum of money to help us continue in our battle to beat blood cancer.
