Going for it

This is both my first blog post, and 'charadee' event.  Those of you who know me will realise that i'm much more at home racing bikes on my playstation that actually getting out there and doing it for real - more of a couch potato than one of your gym-bunny types.  But in an effort to both push myself and raise money for a worthwhile charity (hint, hint!) I have signed up to the Birmingham Bikeathon 52 mile ride...........seemed a good idea at the time :-/

I have started to ride to work each day - a staggering 6 miles, EACH WAY! - and am building up longer distances each weekend.  I aim to update my blog each sunday, after my distance ride so it's fresh in my mind and i can fully describe in detail just how painfull and how much its taking out of me, so you know your getting your (sponsor) money's worth out of me (HINT, HINT).  But seeing how it's not sunday, I'll leave it at this for now with just a quick request for you to check out the just giving page that I've created, this will ensure that and and all money I (you!) raise will go directly to Leukaemia and Lymphoma research (with the added benefit that you won't have to search for change down the back of your sofa to dig deep (those of you that don't sponsor me will be emailed the pick of the 'chaffing' photos.........)

Hi Robert,

First things first, welcome to the team! It's great to have you on board for the first ever Birmingham Bikaethon and we cannot wait for it to get underway.

Sounds like you've got a plan in regards to the training which is great and I noticed that you've already got underway with the sponsorship on JustGiving. I also noticed that you don't currently have a fundraising page on the site - would you like us to create one for you?

The main advantage of having a page with us is that every single penny will go directly towards helping us beat blood cancer as with JustGiving they take up to 5% of all funds raised. The other big advantage of using one of our fundraising pages is that you can link your update blogs directly to the page.

Let me know if you're interested and we'll set a page up for you.

Thanks,

Andy
