Donna has had her transplant, I've sustained a nasty injury!

So, training has been non-existent for the last 8 weeks.  Donna went in to hospital at the end of July for her conditioning chemotherapy followed by her stem cell transplant which happened on 7th August.  The transplant has gone to plan, she has had a few infections but is on the road to recovery, albeit a very long slow road.

Only managed 2 rides in the 4-5 weeks she was in hospital, then the week she came out woke up in agony with pain running from my neck down to my left hand.  The pain has got steadily worse and has prevented any riding.  Today I have seen a spinal specilalist who believes I have a herniated disc in my neck which is in turn putting pressure on a nerve causing the pain.  I have an MRI tomorrow to confirm and then see him again on the Friday before Bikeathon!

He has said that riding won't cause any additional damage but will be painful.  So, currently still planning attempting the 100 miles, but not sure whether I will be able to complete it or not.  Hoping that in the next week the pain will ease off and I will be fit and ready!
