Day one of London | Paris is over, so how are our riders getting on?
Wow, what a day! Early start and make our way to Greenwich Park. Was a bit of a cold start and then the registration gets under way. People everywhere, bikes everywhere...crazy stuff as I've never been on anything like this before. Few photos taken by the charity of Team Daloia with the celebs doing the ride with us and then the toughest bit...a few touching speeches made and I find myself in tears. Very touching moment wishing my mate Dan was there with me on a bike. Then we are off.... a fantastic experience that will live with me forever!! Well done everyone and let's get some rest ready for day 2 :-)
I woke up feeling very nervous about the event in general. The day started quite chilly but the atmosphere at the start was warm and the crew efficient and helpful. The ride out of Greenwich was bitty, competing with morning traffic but again the outriders were great at controlling traffic. By the first break I realised I wasn't eating or drinking enough but plenty of supplies.
Hi we have just completed day one and the mood amoungst the riders apears good. We finished the day with a tough timed hill climb that tested the legs. Had enough in the tank to get through the day and hope to recover for tomorrow. Still think the last two days hold the demons so lets keep the fingers crossed. Roll on Paris.
We've also received a blog update from crew member Ruth who says "The sight of a peloton of cyclists sprinting up towards the gates of Blackheath was awesome."
