Marathon effort from our famous faces

The TV Times Celebrity Running Team were once again out in force with their bright yellow t-shirts, on a beautiful sunny day for the London Marathon.

This year we had 12 people taking part with some new faces joining the team including Gwilym Lee from Midsomer Murders and Samuel Roukin, who flew in especially from New York to support us.  As always, Emmerdale’s Tony Audenshaw, who was running in his 14th London Marathon, brought a smile not only to our faces but also to the BBC’s Jonathan Edwards, who interviewed him after the race, as this year he chose to accessorise his running outfit with a rather eye catching plastic bottom yet still managed to finish in less than three and a half hours.

In addition to the ‘cheeky’ outfit he also recorded a fun song called "The things you hear”, based on what people say before and after a marathon, to help raise further funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Running in his fifth and final London Marathon was ex-Coronation Street and current Holby City actor John Michie. Not only did he manage to beat his personal best time by one minute but he looked as if he could go on for another few miles, there was no sign of exhaustion!

There are some very speedy runners in the team with Samuel achieving an impressive three hours 17 minutes and Gwilym and George Rainsford hot on his tail at three hours 22 minutes.  There is no doubt that the camaraderie and team spirit of our fantastic celebrity team is very special and they are certainly united in helping us to achieve our goal of beating blood cancer.

Finally a big thank you from everyone at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to all of our runners who took part this year: Tony Audenshaw, Samuel Roukin, George Rainsford, Gwilym Lee, John Michie, Will Beck, Martin Savage, Craig Gazey, John Conroy, Ray Macallan and Jay Taylor. You certainly were an Unstoppable team!
