We last updated our blog hot on the heels of our ‘dress-downforacure’ event but what, I hear you ask, have we been doing since?
Unfortunately the demands of our work has slightly derailed our fundraising efforts, however we are keen to wring as much out of our last month of fundraising as possible and to gather all the pounds (and pennies) we can for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
We were recently spurred on by rousing talks from Matthew Harmon, someone with intimate knowledge of LLR’s work on a personal level, and Chris Bunce, Scientific Director for LLR.
Matt, a future Slaughter and May trainee, spoke of his experience as a blood cancer patient with dark humour and enchanting optimism – using his own treatment to highlight the difficulties and advances in blood cancer management. Chris was similarly inspiring in explaining how LLR’s work has developed and demonstrating the truly international scope of LLR’s programmes. We’d recommend checking out their full talks at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGxoO9bioQY and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG0JAkc14MM.
June will be a busy month for our fundraising team with our ‘Quizforacure’ event which includes a raffle (with fantastic prizes ranging from a NUFC football shirt to a facial at Dermologica) and our ‘Tennisforacure’ event which will take place hopefully in glorious sunshine and accompanied by strawberries and Pimms. We will also make the most of any other fundraising opportunities which come our way.
