Full list of team members below:

Geoff Thomas

Geoff Thomas
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

Geoff was treated at Birmingham University Hospital and is now thankfully in remission from leukaemia. Inspired by the patients and staff at the hospital, he is determined to do all he can to beat blood cancer.

"I’ve seen first-hand the difference that scientists are making to blood cancer patients. They need our support to continue their life-saving work so I appreciate what everyone on this team is putting themselves through to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research."

Jeremy Bird

Jeremy Bird
Wickes Support Centre, Harrow

"This is my fourth and possibility most extreme challenge for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

"I’ve only owned a bicycle for the last 18 months so I know that crossing the Himalayas won’t be easy but…when it gets really difficult the inspiration will come from knowing that every turn of the pedals is raising money for research to help find cures for all the patients with blood cancer."

Dean Woolnough

"I'm not a celebrity, get me off this mountain!"

"This is a massive challenge for all of us, the charity is such a great charity and all support for this epic journey will be greatly appreciated."

Sean Gilbert

Sean Gilbert
Travis Perkins, Northampton

"I am both very nervous and very excited about the trip in terms of the altitude and conditions we will be under as a team, but all I can think of is the life-long pain and suffering experienced by those individuals that have their life impacted by Leukaemia & Lymphoma. As a team we will raise as much money as possible to help make that little difference to an individual or their family’s life!

"Dig deep people and sponsor us how and where you can…..thank you!!"

Marie Hayward

"Last one to top gets the drinks in!"

"What a fantastic adventure to ride as part of a team up Mount Everest, whilst raising money for a great cause."

Suraj Patel

Wickes Wembley store

"Whoops, I thought I entered a super bike race!"

"My plan of installing a hidden V8 engine in my bicycle has drastically failed so I guess I’m doing this challenge manually. This is going to be an extremely difficult challenge but am really looking forward to it. The thought of money being raised for Leukaemia & Lymphoma research while peddling through the Himalayas will give me that extra boost to peddle harder. We as a team will succeed together and touch down at Everest base camp with our heads held up high."

Lisa Morse

"Ok, so this is it; over 300miles cycling through the Himalayas, up to base camp Everest and wherever else we are going to end up. Camping in -15 degrees, I get the feeling I am going to get to know this team in more ways than one - at least there will be no nagging that the toilet seat is being left up AS THERE ARE PROBABLY NO TOILETS!!!!! Am I out of my mind you may ask? (I have frequently asked myself that question ever since I put in the application for this trek. VERDICT IS STILL OUT!)

"No matter how tough this trek is going to be, its not going to be as tough as the journey that people with Leukaemia have to go through.

"It’s a privilege to be part of this team and it is amazing that a group of people can come together to help make a difference to people's lives".

Kevin - Wickes Everest Challenge

Kevin Marriott
Wickes Support Centre, Harrow

"I am excited and proud to be part of this team. Taking on this epic ride across ‘the forbidden land’ is the ultimate cycling challenge. We will need to dig deep to get over those mountain passes, but we will do so knowing that money raised helps beat blood cancers. Looking forward to the worlds longest downhill into Kathmandu, and a well deserved beer.

Please dig deep...........your sponsorship really does help Beat Blood Cancers"

Greg - Wickes Everest Challenge

Greg Bingle

“As a keen cyclist, I am relishing this challenge and feel more than willing to give it my all to complete it!”

Scott Robinson

Wickes Newcastle store

"Would you like to go on a bike ride?" "Sure" "Ok I will send you the details." "Excuse me but I got the wrong details. Mine says Everest."

"Well for a fat northener this will be a challenge. I am 40 years young and from Newcastle upon Tyne. I have competed in the Great North Run or the past 3 years raising money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research but running a half marathon will be the same effort as walking to the shops in Kathmandu. So bike it is then. I have been flying around Northumberland on my bike admiring the views as it passes by for the past 6 months. Getting fitter(ish) and meeting new people, cows, fences and hedges.

"This is a fantastic cause so please make a donation no matter what size."

Liam Mulhall

"Screw this, I'm going back to bed."

"This is an amazing adventure that will challenge every part of my mind and body. I hope everybody out there can see how dedicated we all are as a team and see that it's for a great cause. We hope to raise a lot of money for beating blood cancers and together save many lives with the research they do. This will be a BIG challenge I've never done anything active before but hope this is the first of many challenges."

Mark Perrin

"I am really proud of the team effort from my store colleagues in raising money for Leukaemia and supporting me in this challenge.

The amount of money that we have raised is a huge motivator for me and I will repay their generosity by completing the challenge as promised."

Sue Allan

Sue Allan
Travis Perkins, Northampton

"For the last three years I have taken part in various cycling, trekking, kayaking and abseiling charity challenges in Snowdonia, the Lake District and Yorkshire… but to cycle 500km across the Himalayas to Everest base Camp in high altitude, strong headwinds, -15 degrees and with zero facilities… what was I thinking!!!

"This will be a rare opportunity to discover the support, encouragement and willpower of a team determined to achieve this adventure challenge and raise lots of money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

"My dad was diagnosed with Myeloma in January this year, I can’t explain how that’s feels… but he is one of the lucky ones and receiving treatment through a clinical trial… so thank you to Worcester Hospital… and Dad this is for you xx"

Adam Mathews

"What an amazing opportunity, to have an experience of a lifetime and use this to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymohoma Research.

"Thanks to all involved as well as all those who have donated. Adam x"

Philip Flanagan

Phil Flanagan
Wickes Chorley store

"This is without a shadow of a doubt the toughest thing I have ever done in my entire life, and probably the most stupid too. It is going to be an intense and gruelling challenge but one which I will be giving my all.

"The one thing that will get me through this is knowing that every turn of the pedals is raising money for this fantastic charity."

Daniel Foister

Daniel Foister
Wickes Loughborough store

"This trip to date is going to be the hardest thing i have ever done, it makes waxing my legs and having my head shaved look like a walk in the park! but seriously it is a great cause and any help you can give would be appreciated!"

Anil Pindoria

Anil Pindoria
Wickes Support Centre, Harrow

“As soon as I saw this year's challenge I knew straight away I wanted to apply…. not because I like cycling but because it looks impossible and I could die trying!

“Many people have laughed & joked about me attempting this challenge but I have trained hard and changed my life style in order to be ready. For me this challenge will satisfy a few personal goals, show others that anything is possible if you try hard and most importantly raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.”

Kam Bharadwa

"Wow. What a fantastic opportunity to do a once in a lifetime challenge! And for a great cause!

"No matter how tough the challenge gets we will get through this as a team! Please help by sponsoring this worthy charity. Thanks and see you on the other side..."

Jason Frayling

Jason Frayling
Wickes Mansfield store

"This will be the hardest challenge of my life without doubt! I am really looking forward to battling those mountains to raise money for such a great charity, bring on Mount Everest!"

Nikki Helm

Nikki Helm
Travis Perkins, Northampton

"This will be the toughest thing I have ever done in my entire life, its most probably the utmost challenging and scariest thing I have ever done however the training has been rewarding!  I am also looking forward to be part of a great team and I am really looking forward to the massive sense of achievement we will all feel once we get to Kathmandu having completed the trek...

"The main thing that will get me through is that little boy who appeared at the Wickes Conference last year holding up his banner saying ‘Thank you Wickes’ there was not a dry eye in the room and he was the reason I decided to go on the trek and raise lots of money for a wonderful charity which clearly makes a difference."
