My brave Belle back at square one

Hi all. We wanted to inform you that after managing 10 months of maintenance chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, our beautiful baby girl, Belle, (now just short of 2 years of age) relapsed on 20th October 2014 after initially going into remission after responding well to treatment.

We are now back to the beginning with intense high dose chemotherapy lasting two blocks then if successfully in remission onto needing a bone marrow transplant. Needless to say our family are devastated (yet again)! Our 6 year old son, Hiro, myself and my husband Darren had bloods taken yesterday to test for a suitability match.

This journey wasn't over but now we start again. This time with a toddler not a 5 month old. Please prey that this beast of a disease gets under control. We all really need a break now after everything that we went through first time round. Our poor daughter has been through enough in her tiny life. I would like to keep you updated on her treatment during these tough months ahead. Here are a few photos of our brave warrior princess who is now aged 23 months.

Belle and her family have already been through so much after she and her twin sister, Neve, were born premature and then diagnosed with ALL just five months later. Neve sadly didn't make it though treatment. Please show your support for Belle by leaving a message in the box below.

My heart aches for you. I have AML also and I have 4 young children age between 8 and 2. Every day I pray for healing so that I can be a mum to them. I pray for Healling for Belle too and also I pray for strength for your and family. God bless you all x

Clare,

It was so sad to here that Belle has relapsed. You've all already been through so much and it makes me angry that you're all going to have to go through even more. Your story has touched a lot of people at the charity and I want you to know that we're all here to help in any way that we can and will not stop until we've beaten blood cancer so that other families don't have to go through what you're going through currently.

The other important thing to appreciate is that the advances in treatment are such that Belle still has a really good chance of survival and there are others who have been where you are and come out of the other side like Joe Smale who relapsed twice before finally going into remission.

You're very brave to be sharing your story and we've got everything crossed for Belle with what lies ahead. We've got everything crossed for you all.

Claire,

What a beautiful little girl she is! Really hoping that one of you is a match and thinking of you all at this diffuclt time.

So sorry to hear this news - wishing you lots of luck and strength with this new challenge. x

Neve and Belle's experiences are something no child and no parent should have to go through, I'm so sorry to hear Belle has relapsed. Brave warrior princess is an amazing description for Belle; her crayons & colouring, hairclips and beautiful blue eyes remind us there's brave little girl who's so much more than the label of an ALL patient. Thank you for sharing Belle's story and we're all thinking of you, Darren, Hiro and Belle at this difficult time x

I'm so sorry to hear that Belle has relapsed,  sending lots of love to you all at this difficult time. xx

Clare, I'm so very sorry to hear this. Your courage in sharing this blog is immense and Belle looks a real ray of light. I'm wishing you all the strength and love to get through what is to come. I can't imagine how hard it must be to face this again. It makes me more and more determined to keep fundraising to help us defeat blood cancer once and for all.

Wishing you all health and happiness to come

You poor things Clare. Like so many other people have commented, Belle really is a stunner (like her name means!) and we all have your fingers crossed for you here in London.

I hope that having had the courage to share your story, all of these messages of love and support can help to sustain you through the challenges that lie ahead. You know we're here whn you need us,

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know how heartbreaking it is to watch a child go through this and feel so helpless watching them in pain. However you also realise how resilient and brave they can be. We were lucky in that after relapsing and a 2nd round of treatment for ALL the cancer has stayed away (3 years since end of treatment now). I hope one day you and Belle will be in this position.

So sorry to hear that Belle has relapsed. It's such an incredibly difficult time and with trying to manage life for Hiro too. I just wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you. We have been on the A.L.L journey ourselves. It really is so unfair that Belle and all of you have to endure this all again. I'd love to keep up with her progress. Much love xxx

Such a cruel blow after you have all been through so much. My heart goes out to all of you and I will keep your family in my thoughts. I hope you find a bone marrow match for beautiful Belle and wish you strength, peace and courage in the difficult days to come. Your story makes me determined to keep raising money to beat blood cancer once and for all.

Sending you my very best wishes for future health and happiness. x

I'm truly sorry to hear that Belles All has returned. Being someone who has had aml 2 times I know how disappointed and anxious you must feel now that her disease has returned.

I wish you all the very best for Belle and that her treatment goes well and she will again be back in remission and cured.

Take inspiration from the story of Joe Smale who has had it 3 times and is now in remission. As Andy Jackson says due to the advances in the treatment of childhood blood cancer Belle has a very good chance of beating this.

Thinking of you.

Clare my heart aches to hear of your pain. As a mother myself it is inconceivable that your family has already suffered such loss & now you have to fight again. My thoughts, love & heart go out to you - please don't ever think that you have to do this on your own.

Our little girl Nancy was diagnosed with ALL 2 years ago today, she will hopefully finish her treatment in January. We wish your beautiful Belle Happy 2nd Birthday for Monday, so hard for you as parents every day but particularly as your other little beautiful lady Neve won't be there. So sorry for your loss. Hey Clare and Belle,

I just wanted to say that I am praying for you guys and I will spread the word as best I can.
Belle is an absolute fighter to have made it so far being so young and innocent. She would think this is normal life and that is so not fair for the little angel. I think she is an inspiration and just remember that god gives his toughest fights to his strongest soldiers.. Belle will get through this, after all she has little Neve watching over her.
All the very best and so much love and positive energy is being sent your families way xxxooo

We are thinking of Belle and you all; it seems so grossly unfair to be diagnosed at her age and to have to go through it twice. Just a note here to say we hope we can support you to find the comfort and strength to get Belle through this. Let's hope this next journey is as easy as it can be.
Take care all.

Do not give up hope. I should not still be alive but miracles do happen. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma 7 years ago today. I had major surgery, followed by 6 months of chemo. Unfortunately my disease was aggressive and relapsing. Lots more treatment, harvesting and transplanting of my own stem cells, and then radiotherapy, and I am still here. Thoughts are with you, your family and your beautiful girl

We are fellow ALL sufferers as our son Isaac is currently in maintenance. I feel your pain and utter disappointment in having to start again and poor Belle its all she's ever known. But bone marrows have great results and hopefully she will take it all in her stride just like kids do, and you her parents will carry on because you have no choice but to. Good luck for the next part of this journey keep us posted you will be in our thoughts x
