Join us this spring and grow one of Nancy’s giant sunflowers to help beat blood cancer

Local families are being invited to join us on 20 June at Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough for a day of fun and activities.  We’ll be hosting our very own garden-themed exhibition of sunflowers created by local children and community groups. We hope that many more children and families will join us on the day between 10am and 5pm to help us create even more brightly coloured sunflowers for our garden.

As part of the event we’re launching Nancy’s Sunflower Competition. Participants will have between now and 14 September to grow the tallest sunflower.

Nancy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in November 2012 at the age of four and has just finished treatment.  Last summer, Nancy grew her own sunflower seedlings and sold them to raise money to beat blood cancer.  We were inspired by Nancy’s idea, so we’ve set up our very own sunflower growing competition and we’d love you to get involved.

If you’d like to take part in the competition and grow one of Nancy’s Sunflowers, you can request a sunflower pack by emailing us  or calling us on 0121 415 8076. We just ask that each person entering raises a minimum of £5 in sponsorship or make a donation of £5 per person to take part.

Each pack contains:
Five sunflower seeds
Instructions on how to grow and measure your sunflowers
Sponsorship form
Worksheet including a sunflower to colour in

Information about our work and where your money will go

The closing date for entries is 12 noon, Monday 14 September.  The tallest entry will win a hamper of goodies provided by Derwent Pencils and other local retailers.
