The Society of Matfen Golfers (SOMG) recently got in touch with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, in the build-up to their annual Charity Day.

Every year the Society, a group of fifty seniors at Matfen Hall Golf Club in Northumberland, hold a Charity Day to raise funds. For 2013, Captain Martin Davies chose to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, with the day of golf fundraising taking place on Wednesday 9th October. The day was a great success, raising the fantastic total of £900 to help beat blood cancer!

Martin said "I am delighted by the generosity and support of the members of SOMG who achieved this superb total."

Following the Charity Day, I was invited in to meet SOMG and to collect the cheque for the total raised, and last Friday I visited Matfen Hall and was presented with the £900 cheque. The above photo shows Captain Martin Davies presenting the cheque to myself on behalf of the charity, along with members of the Society. The £900 raised will be put towards research Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research are funding in Newcastle

It was brilliant to go and meet the Society, to hear about their Charity Day and to collect their fundraising total. Many thanks to the Club for their support and fundraising!
