I was privileged to spend my evening in the company of some very special people in Nottingham at The Bigger Picture last night where Geoff Thomas and our CEO Cathy Gilman were among the speakers.
As part of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research presents The Bigger Picture, we held an event at the Murcure Hotel in Nottingham City Centre. I was joined by lots of our supporters and met quite a few people who I have spent many weeks speaking to but never met in person. There were also quite a few new people who attended to find out more about who we are what we do and in general what we are about!
The evening was extremely inspirational. We had some amazing speakers, Cathy Gilman and Chris Bunce talking about our research it's importance and how valued and essential support is.Geoff Thomas, talking about his own personal experiences with blood cancer and how this has inspired him to fundraise for our organisation. There was also an amazingly personal and very touching talk by Leanne and Billy Hogan, about their son Joe and his battle with ALL.
In the words of Leanne Hogan, 'Our aim is to beat blood cancer, so that no one has to go through what Joe went through. Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research's aim is to beat blood cancer, therefore we will continue on this journey together until we have succeeded.'
Thanks to everyone who attended, and for sharing such personal journeys of why you support our charity and why it matters so much. I think it has put some fire in all our bellies!
