My name is Cody Skills and I’m a song writer from Bournemouth with a huge passion to write songs and release them for charities to help make a difference in the only way I know - Music.
I have been writing songs since the age of 18 with big influences from many artists such as Train, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Bruno Mars. As a song writer it’s hard for me to be pigeon holed in to one genre, but if a song sounds good it will have a great influence on me.
A few years ago, my band (Constellation) released a song called “Flower Song” which has become the official sound track to a charity called “Scotty’s Little Soldiers” which 100% of downloads went towards and it achieved no.40 in the independent chart. For me this was the biggest achievement, using your talent to help others.
As a solo project , I have decided to write songs for charities for which the charity will gain 100% of the download proceeds. My aim for Cody Skills is to get as many people with all shapes of talent to write and create great songs and videos which in turn will be released for a chosen charity. Each song will be released with a video that has been produced and recorded locally with talented people that I have met or who approached me requesting we work together on a project. I will work closely with the charity to make sure that they are happy with the song, video and any media material produced.
I have chosen Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to be the first charity because “The man behind” Cody Skills works for Wickes building supplies who sponsor the charity and has given great support for the first release. Wickes have done many charity fund raising events for Leukaemia & Lymphoma but I want this one to stand out and remembered every time it’s heard.
“One More Day” featuring Andy L. Smooth is being released on 15th April 2013, my aim for this is to get as many downloads to help raise as much money and awareness for this cause. You can watch the video here.
The picture is of all the musicians involved in the song.
I would like to say thank you to all of them for their support and also to LLR and Wickes.
